The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he looked, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
