The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 shall call for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
