and We delivered the Children of Israel from the humbling chastisement, 30 From Fir'awn; verily he was haughty and of the extravagant. 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 "That [which is ahead of us] is but our first [and only] death, and we shall not be raised to life again. 35 "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). 37 We created not the heavens and earth, and all that between them is, in play; 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 Indeed the Day of Decision is the appointment for all of them. 40 A Day whereon a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped. 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42
