Have you heard the story of Abraham's honored guests? 24 When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown. 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ He said: What is your affair then, O apostles! 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 so that we bring down stones of clay upon them 33 Sent forth from your Lord for the extravagant. 34 So We brought out from therein the believers. 35 But We found not there any just (Muslim) persons except in one house: 36 And therein We left a sign to those who fear the painful chastisement. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman." 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
