He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
