The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 So fear God and follow me. 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who cause others to lose. 181 And weigh with an even balance. 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 Fear Him who created you and those who have gone before you." 184 They said: thou art but of the bewitched; 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 "So cause a piece of the heaven to fall on us, if you are of the truthful!" 187 He said, 'My Lord knows very well what you are doing.' 188 But they cried him lies; then there seized them the chastisement of the Day of Shadow; assuredly it was the chastisement of a dreadful day. 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful. 191
