He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to a rich man, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 You neglect. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 In honored books, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 and his mother and his father; 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
