The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
