Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
