50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (winds) sent forth in quick succession, 1 which then blow tempestuously 2 And those that revive by quickening, 3 Then separate them one from another, 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 So when the lights of the stars are put out. 8 And when the heaven is opened 9 When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; 10 And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect);- 11 To which Day has this task been deferred? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 And what do you know, what the Day of Decision is! 14 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 15 Did We not destroy [so many of] those [sinners] of olden days? 16 and make others settle after them in their land? 17 [for] thus do We deal with such as are lost in sin. 18 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 And We placed it in a firm lodging 21 Till a limit known? 22 For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). 23 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle 25 for the living and the dead, 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and given you fresh water to drink? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny! 29 Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses. 36 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 37 This is the Day of Judgement. We have assembled you all together with past generations. 38 So if you have any plot to devise against Me, then devise it. 39 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 40
