And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 And were ye to obey a human being like you, ye are forthwith to be losers. 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ Such a promise will never come true. 36 There exists only our present life: we die and we live [but once], and shall never be raised up again. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 He said: "O my Lord! Help me because they deny me." 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 After them We produced other generations 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 We then sent our Noble Messengers, one after another; whenever a nation’s Noble Messenger came to it they denied him, We therefore united the succeeding with the old, and made them history; so far removed be the people who do not believe! 44 AND THEN We sent forth Moses and his brother Aaron with Our messages and a manifest authority [from Us] 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)." 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
