And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
