The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 for they are bent on giving it the lie, being always wont to follow their own desires. Yet everything reveals its truth in the end. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
