The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
