The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
