Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
