The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a few from later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
