Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a lofty garden, 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 and neither known this my account! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
