He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 to a rich man, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And dense gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
