The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 By the Moon as she follows him; 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 by the heavens and that (Power) which established them, 5 And by oath of the earth and by oath of Him Who spread it. 6 And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it 7 And inspired it with the wickedness thereof and the piety thereof, 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
