We have sent no Prophet to any city but that We seized its people with misery and hardship, that haply they might be humble; 94 Then We changed the misfortune into prosperity to the extent that they became numerous and said, “Indeed grief and comfort did reach our ancestors” – so We seized them suddenly in their neglect. 95 Had the people of those towns believed in and feared God, We would have showered upon them blessings from heaven and earth, but they rejected the truth. So We seized them on account of their misdeeds. 96 Are the people of the townships then secure that Our wrath would not come upon them at night while they are slumbering? 97 Or, do they feel secure against the coming of Our punishment upon them in the forenoon while they are at play? 98 What! do they then feel secure from Allah's plan? But none feels secure from Allah's plan except the people who shall perish. 99
