The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And spreading shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
