In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
A beseecher besought the visitation of chastisement, 1 Upon the disbelievers the punishment that none can avert. 2 From Allah, Owner of the ascending steps. 3 all the angels and all the inspiration [ever granted to man] ascend unto Him [daily,] in a day the length whereof is [like] fifty thousand years… 4 So persevere with becoming patience. 5 They deem it to be remote. 6 but, We see it as near! 7 The day when the sky will become as molten copper, 8 and the mountains will be like tufts of wool, 9 And no friend will ask of a friend, 10 Though they will be given sight of them. The guilty man will long to be able to ransom himself from the punishment of that day at the price of his children 11 and his spouse and his brother, 12 And his kin that harboured him 13 and all persons of the earth, if only he could thus save himself. 14 By no means! For the raging flames of the fire 15 A remover of exteriors. 16 and it will claim all those who turned their backs [on the true faith] and turned away [from the truth], 17 And collect (wealth) and hide it (from spending it in the Cause of Allah). 18 ۞ Verily man is impatient by nature: 19 Fretful when evil touches him; 20 and tight-fisted when good fortune visits him, 21 save those that pray 22 Who persevere in devotion, 23 And those in whose wealth there is a known right, 24 For the beggar and the destitute. 25 who confirm the Day of Reckoning 26 and who stand in dread of their Sustainer's chastisement 27 for, behold, of their Sustainer's chastisement none may ever feel [wholly] secure; 28 and who are mindful of their chastity, 29 Except with their wives and the (captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (then) they are not to be blamed, 30 And whosoever seeketh beyond that, then it is those who are the trespassers 31 And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive 32 And those who stand firm in their testimonies; 33 And those who guard (the sacredness) of their worship;- 34 Those shall be in Gardens, high-honoured. 35

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
