The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
