The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 unto a mighty day 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 upon couches gazing; 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
