Have the unbelievers not ever considered that the heavens and the earth were one piece and that We tore them apart from one another. From water We have created all living things. Will they then have no faith? 30 And We have set on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with them, and We have made therein broad highways (between mountains) for them to pass through: that they may receive Guidance. 31 We made the sky above them as a well-guarded ceiling, but they have neglected the evidence (of Our existence) therein. 32 It is He Who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Each of them is floating in its orbit. 33 (O Muhammad), We did not grant everlasting life to any human being even before you. If you were to die, will they live for ever? 34 Every soul shall taste death; We test you with both good and evil [circumstances] as a trial. To Us you shall return. 35 But when the unbelievers see you they make fun of you (and say): "Is this the one who mentions your gods (deridingly)?" Yet in Ar-Rahman they disbelieve! 36 Man is created of haste; now will I show to you My signs, therefore do not ask Me to hasten (them) on. 37 They say, "When shall the Day of Judgment come to pass if you are true in your claim?" 38 If only the unbelievers could apprehend the moment when they would neither be able to ward off the fire from their faces and their backs, nor help reach them! 39 The fire will suddenly strike and confound them. They will not be able to repel it, nor will they be given any respite. 40 Before you, other Messengers were mocked, but the mockers were encompassed by the very thing they mocked. 41
