۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
