The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Terror descends 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
