The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
