Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 with a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
