Said [Moses]: "O my Sustainer! Open up my heart [to Thy light,] 25 And ease for me my affair. 26 Unloose the knot upon my tongue, 27 That they may understand my speech. 28 "And give me a Minister from my family, 29 "Aaron, my brother; 30 Increase through him my strength 31 and let him share my task 32 that we may abundantly extol Your glory; 33 And may make mention of Thee oft. 34 "For Thou art He that (ever) regardeth us." 35 The Lord said, "Moses, your request is granted. 36 Already another time We favoured thee, 37 when We revealed what was revealed unto thy mother: 38 “That, ‘Put him into a chest and cast it into the river, so the river shall deposit it on to a shore – therefore one who is an enemy to Me and you, shall pick him up’; and I bestowed upon you love from Myself; and for you to be brought up in My sight.” 39 When thy sister went and said: Shall I show you one who will nurse him? and we restored thee to thy mother that her eyes might be refreshed and might not sorrow. And thou didst kill a man and We delivered thee from great distress, and tried thee with a heavy trial. And thou didst tarry years among the folk of Midian. Then camest thou (hither) by (My) providence, O Moses, 40 I have chosen thee for My service; 41 Go thou and thy brother with My signs, and slacken not in remembrance of Mine. 42 Go, both of you, unto Pharaoh. Lo! he hath transgressed (the bounds). 43 yet speak gently to him, that haply he may be mindful, or perchance fear.' 44 They both said, "Our Lord, We fear that he may commit some excess against us, or exceed all bounds in transgression." 45 He replied: 'Have no fear I shall be with you, both hearing and seeing. 46 So, go to him, and say: 'Behold, both of us are the Messengers of your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with us, and do not chastise them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord; and peace shall be for him who follows the true guidance. 47 "'Verily it has been revealed to us that the Penalty (awaits) those who reject and turn away.'" 48 [Pharaoh] said, "So who is the Lord of you two, O Moses?" 49 (Moses) said: "Our Lord is He who gave everything its natural form and directed it." 50 [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "What about the generations of old?" 51 He said: The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a book, my Lord errs not, nor does He forget; 52 Who has made earth for you like a bed (spread out); and has opened roads (ways and paths etc.) for you therein; and has sent down water (rain) from the sky. And We have brought forth with it various kinds of vegetation. 53 Eat and pasture your cattle: verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 54
