He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
