۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
