(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another- 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 Then he will be fully repaid for it? 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 and Thamood, sparing no one, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The imminent Hour has drawn near, 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 So make obeisance to Allah and serve (Him). ۩ 62
