Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say, "It has been revealed to me that a band of the jinn listened [to the Quran] and they said, "We have heard a really wonderful recital, 1 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). 2 our Lord is too exalted to have either a wife or son. 3 And the foolish among us were wont to forge lies against Allah exceedingly. 4 We thought that no man or jinn could ever tell lies about God. 5 And persons among humankind have been seeking refuge with persons of the jinn, so that they increased them in evil disposition. 6 And indeed they imagined, even as ye imagined, that Allah will not raise any one. 7 'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 We sat in observatories to listen; but any one who listened found a shooting star in wait for him. 9 And so we know not whether evil is intended for those in the earth, or whether their Lord intends for them rectitude. 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary; we are groups each having a different way (religious sect, etc.). 11 Indeed, we thought that we should never be able to frustrate God in the earth, neither be able to frustrate Him by flight. 12 Hence, as soon as we heard this [call to His] guidance, we came to believe in it: and he who believes in his Sustainer need never have fear of loss or injustice. 13 'Amongst us are some that submit their wills (to Allah), and some that swerve from justice. Now those who submit their wills - they have sought out (the path) of right conduct: 14 but as for those who have deviated, they have become firewood for Gehenna!"' 15 And had they kept to the path surely We would have watered them with rain plenteous. 16 and tested them with it. And whosoever turns away from his Lord's Remembrance, He will hurl him into a stern punishment. 17 And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
