Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 So, when the sight shall be dazed, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Aye! man against himself shall be an enlightenment. 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 None except you, O disbelievers – you love what you have, the fleeting one. 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 Others will be despondent, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 (the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath,)" then, he will realize that it is time to leave this world. 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
