[Musa (Moses)] said: "O my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment, and boldness). 25 Make my task easy 26 And loose the knot from my tongue, 27 That they may understand my saying. 28 Appoint a deputy (for me) from my own people. 29 Haroun, my brother, 30 Strengthen by him my back. 31 and let him share my task 32 That we may sing Your praises much, 33 and remember Thee without cease! 34 Verily, Thou seest all that is within us!" 35 Said He, 'Thou art granted, Moses, thy petition. 36 We have again bestowed Our favour upon you. 37 Recall, when We indicated to your mother through inspiration: 38 Saying: Put him into a chest, then cast it down into the river, then the river shall throw him on the shore; there shall take him up one who is an enemy to Me and enemy to him, and I cast down upon you love from Me, and that you might be brought up before My eyes; 39 When your sister went and said: Shall I direct you to one who will take charge of him? So We brought you back to your mother, that her eye might be cooled and she should not grieve and you killed a man, then We delivered you from the grief, and We tried you with (a severe) trying. Then you stayed for years among the people of Madyan; then you came hither as ordained, O Musa. 40 And I chose you for Myself. 41 Go you and your brother with My communications and be not remiss in remembering Me; 42 Then go to the Pharaoh as he has become exceedingly rebellious. 43 Speak to him gently. He may possibly take heed or may come to have fear." 44 The twain said: O our Lord! verily we fear that he may hasten against us or wax exorbitant. 45 'Fear not,' said He. 'Surely I shall be with you, hearing and seeing. 46 "So go you both to him, and say: 'Verily, we are Messengers of your Lord, so let the Children of Israel go with us, and torment them not; indeed, we have come with a sign from your Lord! And peace will be upon him who follows the guidance! 47 it has been revealed to us that punishment shall overtake him who rejects it and turns away!'" 48 Pharaoh said, 'Who is your Lord, Moses?' 49 [Musa (Moses)] said: "Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright." 50 He said: What then is the state of the generations of old? 51 He (Moses) answered: 'The knowledge of them is in a Book with My Lord. My Lord neither goes astray, nor forgets. 52 It is He who has made for you the earth as a cradle and threaded roads for you and sends down water from the sky with which We bring forth every kind of plant. 53 Eat (for yourselves) and pasture your cattle: verily, in this are Signs for men endued with understanding. 54
