The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
