The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate

By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 he was created of gushing water 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
