The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night enshrouding 1 and the day in splendour 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
