At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
