Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
