۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 When he asked his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so devoted?" 52 They said: we found our fathers the worshippers thereof. 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said: Bringest thou unto us the truth, or art thou some jester? 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 So he broke them into fragments, all but a great one they had, for haply they would return to it. 58 They said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers. 59 They said: We heard a youth called Ibrahim speak of them. 60 They said, "Then bring him here in the sight of all the people, so that they may act as witnesses." 61 They said: Have you done this to our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 'No' he replied. 'It was their great one amongst them that did it. Ask them, if they are able to speak' 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah; what! do you not then understand? 67 They said: Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do (anything). 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss: 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 And We brought him in unto Our mercy. Lo! he was of the righteous. 75
