The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
