He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him you attend; 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 mother, father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
