The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
