Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 with a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
