The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 There comes not to them a new reminder from their Lord but they hear it while they sport, 2 With hearts preoccupied. And they confer in secret. The wrong-doers say: Is this other than a mortal like you? Will ye then succumb to magic when ye see (it)? 3 He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]." 5 (As to those) before them, not one of the populations which We destroyed believed: will these believe? 6 And We did not send (Prophets) before you except men, to whom We sent divine revelations – therefore, O people, ask the people of knowledge if you do not know. 7 And We did not create them (the Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they immortals, 8 In the end We fulfilled to them Our Promise, and We saved them and those whom We pleased, but We destroyed those who transgressed beyond bounds. 9 Now We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Remembrance; will you not understand? 10
