The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches; 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
