He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And hath fear, 9 you ignore him. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
